Letter from the CEO

Dear Friends,

2017 has picked up right where 2016 left off. We continue to move forward on all our projects and studies without pause. And, while we are focused on what’s coming next, I want to share with you two accomplishments from last December.

The San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium in Texas is the biggest breast cancer meeting of the year and is always held the second week of December. You’ll find researchers, clinicians, advocates, and representatives from pharmaceutical companies gathered to present and discuss the latest research on breast cancer. It was an exciting and busy week for the four of us from the Foundation who attended. While it was cold and we were almost knocked over by the wind, we were thrilled to be able to present two research posters.

Our first poster presented the impressive results from Phase 1 of our NIH-funded self-reading ultrasound study. When you’re selected to present a poster, you usually stand by it for a few hours and talk to people who stop by. This poster, however, was selected for a discussion session, which allowed Dr. Love time to present slides and answer questions. Click here to watch her in action.

For the second poster, we presented preliminary results on the collateral damage from metastatic breast cancer. Based on data from the quality of life questionnaire in The Health of Women (HOW) Study™, we showed the breast cancer world what we have been telling you for a while: that the quality of life for metastatic breast cancer patients is significantly reduced compared to survey participants with early stage breast cancer and no history of breast cancer. The poster generated a lot of interest and we were honored to participate in a podcast with Breastcancer.org to share our results. Listen here!

We are so proud of the work we do at the Foundation and this meeting served as an amazing opportunity to showcase it.

Next month, the Foundation is holding the 9th International Symposium on the Breast. Click here to see the lineup of amazing speakers who will be presenting their latest research. We invite you to join us for two days of stimulating discussion around some of the most innovative research being done in breast cancer. But, register soon! The early bird discount rate is almost over.

Wishing you a happy and healthy new year!
